A native of Evanston, Illinois and 13 year DJ veteran in Michigan and Chicago.
With a bold and unrivaled DJ technique and an ear for brilliant music Justin Reed has been rockin’ parties for nearly a decade. Not content to just “play songs”, he considers DJing to be an expressive act. To that end, Justin’s DJ sets communicate the creative potential of the DJ as well as of the producers of the records.
Justin has made several forays into 21st century music production. His first foray onto wax came with a DJR remix of Stax’s Jazzbug for Derrick Carter’s legendary house label Classic Music Company. The next year he teamed up with Ben Stroh as Striz and The R to release the well received Diced Hype EP on Swedish house label Cartridge Recordings. Later, Justin was featured on two titles of underground house music. The first was a release on Abicah Soul Recordings’ Young Future EP Vol. 2 which included a collaboration with fellow Chicago artists Shaka 23 and DJ Monna under the name 657 Connection as well as another DJR remix (Bet On Love, Bet On Love-DJR Mix). Additionally, Justin provided two minimal locked grooves for the Japanese imprint Tokyoism’s Foggy Bridge limited edition 7″.
Justin’s first release on Revolutionary Music, a downtempo – trip hop cut called Stormy Seasons, is due out in August on the compilation Organica Lounge.
