After School Special

After School Special is one of Chicago’s best chillout lounge music bands, perfect for Ibiza’s Cafe Del Mar. Very relaxing music. This lounge music band is the collaborative effort of Peachfuzz (Andy Mason) and Busy B (Bryan Ford).  Though formally conceived in 1998, After school Special actually is the continuation of musical ideas that began as early as 1990 when Peachfuzz and Busy B were high school friends.  Despite the fact that both hail from different music backgrounds and tastes, the sound they create as After School Special comes together like chocolate and peanut butter

After School Special is the perfect mix of a musician’s sensibilities with the raw enthusiasm of a flea market record shopper.  Busy B is an accomplished musician and bona fide music junkie, Peachfuzz a bona fide musician and accomplished music junkie.  Peachfuzz’s knack for finding the tastiest, on-the-fly samples from obscure vinyl gives way to Busy B’s hypnotic beats and throbbing bass lines.  The end result is a sound best described as soothingly smooth and sexually forgiving, yet tastefully raw and eerily moving.

Their track “Pretty Fly Away,” due out on Revolutionary Music’s compilation release Organica Lounge, is a prime example of this interplay.

After School Special is currently in the process of completing their first official debut.  They were are also regular hosts and DJs at the Safe House in Chicago and perform in various bands around the country under assumed names.
