Here’s what they said: “Trinidad-born dancehall rude boy Lenky Don might live in Brooklyn and have a following in Houston, but his delivery is genuine, rough-and-ready dancehall. A bit of a chameleon, he can roll with chrome-plated,electronic, paranoid flavors of dubstep; a stock diwali rhythm; or laid-back fun-in-the-sun tracks like “Copacabana” on his new Radioactivefull-length. Lenky Don From Trinidad to Central /South America/Europe/worldwide and from coast to coast in the United States, recording artist/MC/Entertainer Lenky Don is deemed “One of the Top Ten Artists” by Timeout Magazine. In between penning tunes for several other artist, including Macy Gray, Lenky’s rude bwoy stamina, wicked sense of humor and vox has taken him all over the Americas and to the finest reggae clubs throughout New York. Tearing up Live venues for many years, as well as pioneering the craft of musical synchronization with video games, Lenky, Alongside the Smashing Pumpkins, was one of the two original acts signed to the infamous SCRATCHIE RECORD Label. Lenky’s “Official” discography includes several releases featured on the most highly regarded reggae compilations of the late 90′s including “DEM A BAIT” DANCEHALL RAWKUS, “ALMIGHTY I” CULTURE VIBES, and “ARE YOU READY” JAMDOWN VIBRATIONS. More recently, “Dub Organizer,” caused mayhem in both the jungle and dancehall circles. From Trinidad by way of Brooklyn, Lenky Don now touches down with some reggae-electro funk and reggaeton single releases backed by an arsenal of dynamic talent and a mature mindset to anchor it all. With releases out on both major and independent labels, collaborations with grupo fantasma, zone, daddy montana and the Skadanks Band, Lenky Don has achieved a cutting edge style in light of the post-dancehall explosion. Lenky’s latest projects are refined to fit more definitive underground sounds, opting to MC over U.K. dub-step, drum & Bass, party breaks, deep house and even reggaeton. After enhancing his skill-set as a singer/songwriter, Lenky scored a ..1 hit in Panama featuring Heather Headley with “Make You Say Yo” consequently after touring the country in 2004.
