Revolutionary Music recording artists VOLT MODZ, Elev8tor, Shifty Johnson, Lee Jarvis and Justin Reed will be performing at a loft party in the the old Safe House space in Chicago. The party will showcase a mix of bands and DJs and will open with a fashion show. Royal Audio Productions is organizing the event. Doors open at 8pm.

Revolutionary Music recording artists, the VOLT MODZ, will be opening for Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team at Smartbar Saturday, July 3rd. The VOLT MODZ will be performing live for the second time. Their first performance was on April 24th at Darkroom. They play a continuous mix of all original funky techno, tech house, glitch and jackin’ house. Shifty Johnson and K Ford are behind the dirty basslines, analog synths and funky beats that comprise the VOLT MODZ sound. Their first release for Revolutionary Music was a remix of the Earl Jives cut Funkie Ass Junkie.

Funky techno, big bass, jackin’ house, glitch, fidget and more are all on the menu for this extended tag team set. Come shake your ass with us for an unpretentious dance party with a warm inviting vibe.

Lake Street Collective presents the Beat Maven Launch Party

On Friday, April 2nd, the Lake Street Collective returns to Chicago’s Darkroom to celebrate the official launch of BeatMaven.com, a new electronic music podcast network that offers up hours upon hours of streaming and downloadable electronic DJ mixes. The party will be broadcast live on BeatMaven.com and will feature the turntable stylings of Jugoe (Bastard Jazz Recordings/Cleveland), a live performance from the tech funk duo VOLT MODZ (Revolutionary Music) and DJ performances from DJ Striz (illmeasures) and Ryan Scott & Filip D. aka twoDeep. As always, Revolutionary Music and illmeasures, the crews behind the Lake Street Collective, promise to bring the underground loft party vibe to the Darkroom dance floor. Their last party at Darkroom was massive!

About Jugoe.
After a short hiatus from the music scene, Brooklyn’s Bastard Jazz Recordings Artist, Jugoe is once again ready to invade your space. In the studio, his sounds tend to lean toward the more chill, abstract dub vibe – but as a DJ, he has a “no categories” policy – playing everything from glitch to afrobeat and everything in between. Having performed along such tastemakers as Diplo, ?uestlove, Bassnectar, Mr Scruff, Quantic, DJ Krush, RJD2 and dozens more, this Cleveland native / Chicago transplant knows how to keep a dance floor interesting. Expect an eclectic set of drunken funkiness.

Shifty Johnson’s mix for Sirius XM satellite radio available for download

Back on May 13th Shifty Johnson appeared on the DJ Times Shortlist on Sirius XM radio to rock his signature blend of gritty tech funk and degenerate disco. Shifty Johnson’s identity was revealed to thousands of listeners even after the host was asked to keep it a secret. For most who were listening, it meant nothing. However, for those who were trying to keep two worlds from colliding it was the beginning of the end, an end which we have yet to see. Stay tuned, enjoy the mix and remember never to take yourself too seriously.

The Burning Man vibe will be in full effect. Ole’ Shifty will be playing the opening set from 9pm – 11pm. Come early and stay late!

On Friday October 23rd, Revolutionary Music and illmeasures will unite to produce another edition of the Lake Street Collective at Chicago’s Darkroom (2210 W. Chicago Ave.). The Lake Street Collective event series brings the illicit loft party vibe and music, for which the two crews are known, to legal venues throughout Chicago. The music begins with downtempo and lounge at the beginning of the night and builds in energy, moving through nu jazz, broken beat, house, tech house and fidget as the evening progresses. The event features a special live performance from the electro-organic groove band Elev8tor and also features DJs Striz, Shifty Johnson, Adrienne Sanchez and DJ 8.

Doors open at 9pm. Those who arrive early will receive giveaways (while supplies last). Free before 11pm. $5 Thereafter.

About Elev8tor
Kevin Ford, the man behind the wildly successful afrobeat ensemble, the Chicago Afrobeat Project, launched a new group called Elev8tor to perform his original midtempo and uptempo electronic-organic grooves ranging from acid jazz to funk to broken beat to house music. The quartet includes Darcy on vocals, Olan Langley (Marvin Tate’s Desettlement) on bass, Sam Sharp (J Davis Trio) on drums and of course Kevin Ford on the Rhodes, Hammond B3, Synths and sampler. Four of their songs have already been signed to the forthcoming compilation CD, Revolutionary Music presents Organica Lounge due out later this year.

Adrienne Sanchez has been a resident of the Safe House since its inception in 2004. After short stint in her native Los Angeles, Adrienne returned to Chicago to DJ in an award winning play at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. After spending the summer touring in Europe, Adrienne returned home and has been rocking the dance floor since. Her signature style of jackin’, broken, funky, edgy jams will surely get you bouncing. Prepare to sweat.

Revolutionary Music’s Shifty Johnson just returned from his pilgrimage to Ibiza for the closing parties. Just before he left he recorded this mix. It was to be aired on Ibiza Global Radio. There was a digital glitch in the copy he took with him, so their loss is our gain. This mix includes tracks by Asad Rizvi, Hakim Murphy, Shonky, Jesse Rose, Green Velvet, Wasted Chicago Youth, Claude Von Stroke, Detroit Grand Pubas and more.
