Revolutionary Music to launch new electronic music podcast network

We want to give you all a sneak peek of the new electronic music podcast network we are launching later this month. The site is called Beat Maven and can be found at BeatMaven.com (of course). You can download, stream or subscribe to all the shows. Each show runs their own web site under the umbrella Beat Maven site. Check out the pop out player on the front page of beatmaven.com that plays all of the latest shows from across the site. It is similar to internet radio, but it is on-demand. We are very excited about it! Keep in mind we have yet to announce it to the world. We wanted you to have the first look Let us know what you think!

Shifty Johnson DJ Mix

Revolutionary Music’s Shifty Johnson just returned from his pilgrimage to Ibiza for the closing parties. Just before he left he recorded this mix. It was to be aired on Ibiza Global Radio. There was a digital glitch in the copy he took with him, so their loss is our gain. This mix includes tracks by Asad Rizvi, Hakim Murphy, Shonky, Jesse Rose, Green Velvet, Wasted Chicago Youth, Claude Von Stroke, Detroit Grand Pubas and more. The last cut in the mix is Earl Jives’ Funkie Ass Junkie (VOLT MODZ Remix) which is available now on Revolutionary Music. The VOLT MODZ is Shifty Johnson’s new production moniker along with Kevin Ford of Acid O.G.’s fame.

This Safe House podcast features a live performance from Revolutionary Music’s Bryan Ford & Goulet. The set was recorded live at the Safe House during Revolutionary Music’s artist showcase. They have been causing quite a stir since their debut. Last night, despite a couple power outages, they absolutely killed it at Silver Room’s annual block party. They left the crowd screaming for more, which the next act, Detroit’s Amp Fiddler, surely appreciated.

Bryan Ford & Goulet will be headlining a show this Friday night (July 24) at the Abbey Pub. Also performing is the Electro hip hop artist Keith Masters.

August 7th, Bryan Ford & Goulet will be performing at the Lake Street Collective event at Chicago’s Darkroom along with Shifty Johnson, Striz, Adrienne Sanchez, Justin Reed and DJ FORM.

For years the epicenter of Chicago’s underground party scene was on one block of Lake Street. Revolutionary Music’s Safe House was on the north side of the street and the illmeasures loft was on the south side. DJs, performers and party people from all over the world found their way to the now legendary illicit parties. Revolutionary Music and illmeasures have joined forces as the Lake Street Collective to bring that vibe back to venues around Chicago. On August 7th, 2009 we bring it to Chicago’s Darkroom (2210 W. Chicago Ave.).

Our ultra sick line-up of DJs and performers is as follows…

9pm Justin Reed of illmeasures who recently signed his track Stormy Seasons to Revolutionary Music will kick the party off with some laid back

lounge grooves. The patio will be open and the RM and illmeasures family is invited out for a semi-private and complimentary gathering.

10:15pm DJ FORM, a longtime resident DJ of Revolutionary Music’s Safe House and part of the illmeasures extended family will bring his amazing mid-tempo turntablism to bear on the vibe, kicking it up a notch. FORM is also the DJ for the trip hop band the Baldwin Brothers as well as a local hip hop crew.

11:15pm Bryan Ford & Goulet, the genre defying live act that blew away the crowd at Revolutionary Music’s Artist Showcase at the Safe House, is back again with brand new music! They play everything from jazzy midtempo grooves to a$$ shakin’ house.

12:00am Adrienne Sanchez, another beloved Safe House resident DJ will drop her signature style of bumpy, bouncey and groovy house. Prepare to jack!

1:00am Revolutionary Music’s Shifty Johnson, who has been busy making beats as 1/2 of the VOLT MODZ, will tag team with the revered DJ Striz of illmeasures whose been blowing up the decks at parties like the Freakeasy and Resonate. Expect mind-blowing basslines and funked out jackin’ tech house.

Safe House Podcast: Backseat Bingo live at Barcelona spinning house music

This Safe House Podcast is a nearly 3 hour recording of Backseat Bingo spinning a sick set of deep, funky and jackin house live at Barcelona in Austin, Texas. They were sharing the decks that night with JT Donaldson. Backseat Bingo is made up of Daniel Allen and Nathan Stewart, both of whom have releases coming out soon on Revolutionary Music as Backseat Bingo, DNA and Nathan Stewart.

Nathan Stewart’s remix of the famed Chicago Afrobeat Project has just been released worldwide as part of an EP featuring some of Chicago Afrobeat Project’s newest music. It isn’t a Revolutionary Music release but we did facilitate the project. It is currently blowing up college radio stations. So you know, the next Lake Street Collective party at Cat’s Meow won’t be until April because the venue will be closed for remodeling. Rumor has it that they are sorting out a brand new DJ booth.
