Revolutionary Music recording artist, Sista Stroke has embarked on yet another endeavor. Starting Friday, March 05, 2010 she will be the newest edition to the online radio movement, De La Soul’s Dugout Radio (DLS).

Dubbing her show Freak Freely Fridays, Sista Stroke will not only be the first female jock with a consistent program on DLS but, she will have the ONLY House Music show on the predominately Hip Hop station.

Broadcasting every Friday at 6pm EST (5pm CST, 11pm GMT), she is ready for the challenge of filling the big shoes of Dummy The DJ, the DJ who maintained that two hour block for over six months on DLS with his popular show “Crash Test Dummy.” Dummy The DJ (the official DJ for Interscope Records recording artist Common) discovered and introduced her to DLS through his morning show “The Breakfast Club” familiarizing her with their dedicated audience. Later he asked her to fill in for his Friday night show. Easily enlisting the crowd, by the end of the show Dummy approached her about taking over his Friday nights with the thought of bringing diversity to the station.

“This is a big achievement,” admits Sista Stoke.

Freak Freely Fridays airs every Friday 6pm EST on DLS radio.
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/DeLaSouls-Dugout

Brick City House is still beating strong and celebrates its one year anniversary next week, March 10th on ChicagoHouseFM.com. The BCH podcast can be found at beatmaven.com

So if you can’t make it on a Friday, know that you can still grab her Mid-Week Freak every Wednesday at ChicagoHouseFM.

About De La Soul’s Dugout

DLS radio is a global social networking site for music lovers and De La Soul fans. It provides a varied music- driven format that streams 24 hours, seven days a week, utilizing mixmasters, personalities and automation software in real time.

The film won the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Award in 2009 and has been touring on the international film festival circuit. The directors of the film will be attending the Chicago event. Nash Kato from Urge Overkill is hosting tonight’s event in Chicago.

From the directors…

The Revolution takes a giant leap forward tomorrow!!! Indie film will test the limits of the wild internet to unite the nation in a viewing experience and interactive conversation in celebration of WE LIVE IN PUBLIC’s national release!

Since winning our Sundance Grand Jury Award in January 2009, our film has toured countless national and international festivals, played theatrically in dozens of cities in the US and around the world and was acquired by the New York Museum of Modern Art as part of their permanent film collection. The whole thing was capped off with Ondi’s return to Sundance 2010 as a juror to pass the top documentary award tiara to a new film (congrats Restrepo!) What a year!

Radical journalists from Vancouver have profiled Ondi for their next issue – Here’s a link to get the whole story, lots of incredible photos and links to Ondi’s work. It’s a real tribute to her: punkglobe.com

We are finally releasing our film on DVD and via Video-On-Demand in partnership with Warner Bros., and DVD with IndiePix, and we are having a HUGE CRAZY PARTY spanning SIX cities on March 1st to celebrate!

We will be screening the film simultaneously across all the cities – it starts at 6pm in LA and Vancouver, 7pm in Denver, 8pm in Chicago and 9pm in New York and Atlanta. After the screenings we are going to have a rollicking Q+A that links every event via web cast. This orchestrated web cast will bring the fun to all of you who can’t be there in the flesh. Just tune into weliveinpublicthemovie.com starting at 5:30pm PST for a live stream from all the events!

And that’s not all! Because we couldn’t clone Ondi and Josh to host y’all in every location, we decided to station them at the Chicago hub party with none other than Nash Kato of Urge Overkill. We also enlisted Adrian Grenier (Entourage) to host the New York event, while Eliza Dushku will hold down the fort at the Egyptian screening in LA.

DURING the screenings, Ondi and Josh will host a live show with exclusive WLIP clips and wild banter from their Chicago pod while taking questions via Twitter – all live on weliveinpublicthemovie.com! Following the film, Ondi Josh will link up with Adrian and Eliza and all the audiences nationwide in theaters and online to have a live, interactive conversation about living in public. Get online and join us, yo! We are ready to field your questions!

Help us spread the word about this groundbreaking, historic event. We not only want to see your butt online (or at one of these theaters) but we want your posse there, too. Post this link on your facebook account or website, blog or wherever you frequent. Spread the word as far and wide as possible, people – the more the merrier! Once again, its link

And we aren’t the only ones who are excited – check out what ADRIAN and ELIZA have been saying about our film and their participation in our premiere!

Jeremiah Seraphine and Lee Jarvis launch a new deep house music DJ collaboration January 20th, 2010 at Martini Ranch in Chicago.

Lee Jarvis and I (Jeremiah Seraphine) are kicking off a new deep house collaboration tomorrow night at Martini Ranch. We will be working together to bring our unique take on deep house to venues around Chicago. Tomorrow night we’ll be visiting Whatever Wednesdays with residents Gerald Moore and Dysqo.

Many of you know Lee Jarvis from his impressive discography on labels such as Lost My Dog, 4Kenzo, 1200 Traxx, Trendy Mullet, Fazed Music and Revolutionary Music (as Earl Jives). He also ran one of London’s hottest jackin’ house nights right up until he moved to Chicago. His party, called Moochin, showcased artists such as Joey Youngman, the Littlemen, Quirk Burglars, Massimo Dacosta and our own Shifty Johnson to name a few. He has certainly established himself at the forefront of the global jackin’ house community. Mr. Jarvis now plans to explore the deeper shades of house further than he ever has before.

***

I have just started DJing again using my real name – Jeremiah Seraphine. For the past seven years I’ve been using an alter ego to explore different sounds – jackin’ house, tech house, minimal, fidget. I’ve continued to collect and play deep house – keeping true to my roots, but only at intimate gatherings on my roof deck or private parties.

This collaboration with Mr. Jarvis is exciting because I’m able to bring the experience of the last seven years to bear on the concept of deep house music. Those of you who were around in the early days of 3 Degrees, when I was a deep house DJ, will surely hear something familiar in this new groove. And those who’ve come to know my style over the last seven years will also hear similarities. The style is sexy, groovy and smooth with a little bit of funk to keep it interesting. The tracks we’ve been selecting for this project are by producers who pay unusual attention to the production quality of every element.

I know I’ve written quite a bit just to introduce a Wednesday night gig, but we are excited for this new take on an old adventure -spinning deep house. So, you are now formally invited to join us, Lee Jarvis and myself, for the first of many deep house sets in Chicago. January 20th we will be at Martini Ranch from midnight until 4am. There is no cover. Come check out the sound!

Jeremiah Seraphine

Elev8tor is a band you are going to hear a lot about this year. They have multiple releases scheduled to drop in 2010 from Chicago’s Revolutionary Music imprint. This Friday they are headlining Darkroom’s 7 Year Anniversary party. Last Saturday, label mates Bryan Ford & Goulet rocked a full house at Darkroom. Odds are that this week will bring the same energy and then some due to it being the venue’s anniversary party. Don’t miss this show!

Kevin Ford, the keys player and band leader for the wildly popular nationally touring Afrobeat band – the Chicago Afrobeat Project, has done it again with his newest project – Elev8tor. This new project fuses electronic and organic music together creating everything from soul dub to disco to downtempo to nu jazz and beyond. Sam Sharp, drummer for J Davis Trio, anchors the heavy rhythms which are accented by ultra phat bass lines from bassist extraordinaire Olin Langley. Bryan Ford (Bryan Ford & Goulet), a revered multi-intrumentalist is the newest member of the ensemble – stepping in to play guitar. Kevin Ford plays an array of synths, organs and samples while Darcy Markham pulls it all together with her amazing voice.

For more info check out their Myspace page.
