For years the epicenter of Chicago’s underground party scene was on one block of Lake Street. Revolutionary Music’s Safe House was on the north side of the street and the illmeasures loft was on the south side. DJs, performers and party people from all over the world found their way to the now legendary illicit parties. Revolutionary Music and illmeasures have joined forces as the Lake Street Collective to bring that vibe back to venues around Chicago.
Until the venue closed in early 2009, Arman Razvi’s bi-level lounge on Chicago Ave., the Cat’s Meow, played host to our monthly Lake Street Collective parties. These vibrant Saturday night events were the venue’s most successful in its history.
Beginning July 3rd, 2010 the Lake Street Collective party will held every second Saturday night the Darkroom (2210 W. Chicago Ave.). Doors open at 9pm.
Every party features a rotating cast of DJs from Revolutionary Music, illmeasures and twoDeep including Shifty Johnson, DJ Striz, Ryan Scott, Adrienne Sanchez, Justin Reed, Lee Jarvis, Filip D., Brad Miner, FORM, K Ford and more spinning everything from funk and rare groove to trip hop and mid tempo grooves to house music and tech house to minimal and electro. Also, look out for live acts such as ELEV8TOR, VOLT MODZ, Brad Miner and Bryan Ford & Goulet.
