This latest release features “The Spins,” an epic instrumental house music floor-filler from the artist Goulet. The track is propelled by a rhythmic, Latin-flavored groove, demanding organ chords, funky guitar, and a formidable bass line creating an infectious live feel.

In addition to the impressive sound of “The Spins,” this release also comes with a quartet of top notch remixes. Included are Chicago house legend Roy Davis Jr. with his signature deep and funky sound, in demand Texan house producer JT Donaldson on the jazzy house tip, Chicago loft party staple Justin Reed giving an electro-bounce house treatment, and London’s jackin’ house ambassador Lee Jarvis delivering a bassy tech-fidget version. As a bonus, Goulet closes out the set with another original track “Extra Long Polo,” filled with more impressive live instrumentation, this time over an old school breakbeat-house groove.

Expect the unexpected as we rotate DJs every half hour for a journey through music you probably wont hear anywhere else. Funky techno, big bass, jackin’ house, glitch, fidget and more are all on the menu for this extended tag team set. Come shake your ass with us for an unpretentious dance party with a warm inviting vibe.

Revolutionary Music and illmeasures, two crews who are responsible for years of legendary Chicago loft parties joined forces a year ago as the Lake Street Collective to bring the loft party vibe to legal venues around the city. They celebrate their 1 year anniversary on January 9th at Darkroom. The party features live performances by Bryan Ford & Goulet and Brad Miner along with DJs Striz, Jeremiah Seraphine, Lee Jarvis and Justin Reed. $5 Cover and free before 11pm. 9p-3a.

Shifty Johnson’s mix for Sirius XM satellite radio available for download

Back on May 13th Shifty Johnson appeared on the DJ Times Shortlist on Sirius XM radio to rock his signature blend of gritty tech funk and degenerate disco. Shifty Johnson’s identity was revealed to thousands of listeners even after the host was asked to keep it a secret. For most who were listening, it meant nothing. However, for those who were trying to keep two worlds from colliding it was the beginning of the end, an end which we have yet to see. Stay tuned, enjoy the mix and remember never to take yourself too seriously.

Jackin’, techy, funky and dirty are the words that come to mind to describe this dance floor filling house music and tech house EP. Earl Jives delivered a solid three song package and the VOLT MODZ destroyed the remix with a breaky bass heavy electro funk remix that made us think of the Dirty Bird crew.

Revolutionary Music label party August 30th at Day Ra – The Roof on the Wit Hotel

The Roof on the Wit is a new indoor/outdoor rooftop venue in downtown Chicago that has been generating quite a bit of buzz. Our good friend Arman of Music 101 and Cat’s Meow was recently hired as GM. He brought his signature daytime party series Day Ra to Sundays at the Wit and has invited Revolutionary Music to showcase the label’s house music DJs on August 30th.

We will be celebrating Maia’s birthday party. That means you should take a vacation day on Monday. We’ve already taken the day off.

The party starts at 3pm and ends at 2am.
